Coach Glasses - Eyeglasses and Sunglasses by Coach: High-index lenses and choosing frames for them!?

Question by No-name.: High-index lenses and choosing frames for them!?
I’ll start of by saying that I have about -7.50 for my prescription in one eye, and about -6.50 in the other. At Lenscrafters, I was asked if I wanted high-index lenses, which would make the lenses thinner for my high prescription. How thick would high-index lenses with my prescription be? Also, I was looking at plastic frames. The one I liked the most was similar to this:

but it didn’t have a frame around the whole lens, similar to this:

The sales associate told me that it’s best to get frames that cover the whole lens to hide their thickness. However, whether or not I decide to go for the frames I liked or find new ones that go around the whole lens depends on how thick the lenses would be and how (ugly?) they might look. So pretty much:

How thick would high-index lenses with my prescription be? And would “half-frames” look ugly with frames of such thickness?

Thanks!

How thick the lenses will be depends on the size of the frame and what your pupillary distance is.

It’s impossible to tell you the thickness, there are too many unknown variables.

But…they will certainly look thicker in a semi rimless frame like the second one.

Whether it would look “ugly” is a matter of opinion. If the thickness showing bothers you , then stay away from that style and go for the plastic frame that will hide all the edge thickness.

What do you think? Answer below!
